Athletic Eligibility Review Procedures The superintendent designate and the RVSD sports coordinator are appointed to decide on the eligibility of students to participate in RVSA-sponsored sports programs. Based on ASAA eligibility regulations, any student who is either a non-resident student or who is not residing with his/her parents within the school’s attendance area has their eligibility to play sports decided by the Athletic Eligibility Review committee. Each school wishing a non-resident or a student not residing with his/her parents to play on a sports team is responsible for submitting its request with rationale to the committee prior to the first instructional day the student attends the school. The committee must respond with a decision within five school days from the date of the request. The request is made by completing the Athletic Eligibility Review form prior to the start of the relevant sports league. The committee will not accept the request if the principal of the school in question has not already been contacted. Once the committee has informed the school of its decision, the school can appeal that decision directly to the superintendent of schools within three school days of receiving the committee’s decision. The superintendent informs the school of the final decision within three days of receiving the appeal. Please send the Athletic Eligibility Review form to the Rocky View School Division Sports Coordinator.
